Course for parents of teenage children
LOCALLY based charity Parents and Children Together (PACT) is putting on a course especially for the parents of teenage children.the course starts in January and is being held at the new Children's Centre in West Moors on Tuesday evenings. PACT has been running parenting courses and personal development programmes for several years. PACT uses the nationally accredited Family Caring Trust Parenting programme. The sessions are friendly and informative offering commonsense suggestions,to enable parents to come together and support each other. The course (held over 6 weeks) uses a parent's guide and DVD covering practical and everyday situations. As Joss Ridge, PACT coordinator puts it: ",Children don't come with instructions but help is at hand." She adds the reason for running a course for the parents of teenage children is that those years are recognised as challenging for the teenagers themselves, but there is also a huge adjustment to be made by the parents.Joss says if you have teenage children and can answer yes to any of the following questions then the parenting course is probably for you.
