Great Santa Fun Run Success

The Wimborne Rotary Club "Great Santa Fun Run" was once more a huge success.

It was held at the "Point to Point" hurdles course at Badbury Rings on Sunday 12 December 2010 with around 100 adults and children taking part. It is estimated that £5000 plus Gift Aid will be raised by them and will go to the charity of each participant's choice.

Before the start there was an organised warm up for all runners and then the event was started by the aid of a claxon by Jon Cuthill, from BBC South's "Inside Out" programme. Jon also took part by running twice round the two mile course.

This exciting family event brought out parents, children and even dogs in support of many local charities and good causes – Cherry Tree Nursery, PACT, CAB, Naomi House and Help for Heroes, just to name a few.

Tim Ridge, Chairman of PACT (Children & Parents Together) said, "The Wimborne Rotary Club has provided a great opportunity for a fun day for all our family and at the same time raise money for us and other local charities We certainly thank them for this community event."

Robert McBain, President-elect of Wimborne Rotary said, "This has been another successful Santa Fun Run, providing great entertainment for all participants in this beautiful location and encouraging them to raise much needed cash for their charity or good cause. I would like to thank the Cooperative Society for being our major supporter to defray the costs, the National Trust and farmer for allowing us to use Badbury Rings"
